Masai Mara Update 21: The Wildebeest keep coming. There are thousands of them in the Triangle and the keep on moving in long single file lines across the landscape in search of new grass. There were they have been the grass is short and looks like a sports field. We saw Cheetah on a kill, by chance, as we were waiting for a Ranger to finish his chat with another safari guide. When our guide Wilson Naitoi looked around he spotted the Cheetah a mere 25 meters from the road. She was a big girl with an even bigger appetite and she really tucked in to the Thompson Gazelle she had brought down. The Cheetah only sat up once in a while to check for approaching predators who might want to steal her food. This afternoon the herds were building again at Kaburu and Mawe Mawe so while we waited we shot the various Vultures coming in to feed on a Wildebeest carcass beached on some rocks in the Mara River. The herds moved south and did not cross. The light was fading fast this afternoon in the oncoming rain clouds. Another very large herd of Wildebeest and Zebra were running across the grasslands when we decided to have a go at some slow shutter speed photography. The panning was quite a challenge but we managed to get a few interesting shots.
