Massachusetts Department of Transportation TRAFFIC ADVISORY REMINDER: WATER STREET CONNECTOR OPEN TO ONE-WAY TRAFFIC AND ANAWAN STREET/POCASSET STREET CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC IN FALL RIVER BEGINNING ON MONDAY, JANUARY 5 The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) will implement the following traffic changes as the final phase of traffic detour implementation for Stage 1B construction of the Route 79/Braga Bridge Improvements Project. Open Water Street Connector to one-way traffic (eastbound) and re-open a portion of Route 79/138 (Broadway) to two-way traffic from Columbia Street north for access to Water Street Connector. Close Anawan Street/Pocasset Street to through traffic between Davol Street and the Work Out World parking lot (local access maintained). Stage 1B detour route maps can be viewed in English, Portuguese and Spanish on the website. Local access to area attractions and abutting properties will be maintained at all times. All businesses are open. Motorists should follow the Battleship Cove Area signage for access to the waterfront. MassDOT encourages drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays. Drivers who must travel through the affected area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution while approaching and traveling through the work zone. The schedule for this major infrastructure project is weather dependent and subject to change without notice.
