MasterBert Rodriguez The Power of Thought. You naturally possess this ability that is used by you and others to influence your actions more often than you realize. Self-hypnosis can be achieved unconsciously and influence you in positive as well as negative ways. Hypnosis is a form of meditation that can be achieved by helping you to focus on specific thoughts and word patterns. A hypnotist helps you tap into your own ability to relax and focus to a very intense level. Meditation is practiced in countless ways. Each country, each religion has its own means of meditation for spiritual discipline, healing practice, or a way of experiencing psychological growth. We engage in meditation, because it can be empowering, healing, rewarding, and peaceful. Research into the use of the power of thought, as well as meditation, has shown it to be effective in reducing pain and useful with chronic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis. Meditation is a process that can help you focus your thoughts on the immediacy and feelings associated with any action. You can build up the strength of your mind and your awareness. This can help you develop a form of self-hypnosis that will empower you when performing any task. I have found that fighters go through a lot of mental battles with doubt before a fight. I tried to constantly feed them positive thoughts along with their physical training. But I couldn’t always control what they thought when not in training or the doubts and influence of others. I could see a fighter begin to worry, and when he backed out of an event at the last minute, I would say, “He had a foot injury.” When people would ask me exactly what happened, I would explain and say, “He got cold feet.” Other times, fighters developed cold symptoms a week before the fight with all the telltale signs of sniffles, stuffy nose, and even fever. They would tell me they didn’t think they would be able to fight. I would call the promoter, explain, and take them out of the competition, and the next day—miraculously—they were fine. We need to recognize that prayer, as controversial as it may seem, can be considered not only a way of communicating with God but also as a form of meditation or concentration that can have some powerful results. The word “inspire” breaks down to being “in spirit.” Successful people work at meditating and developing positive thoughts and good habits. Champions repeat an action until it becomes second nature so they can duplicate it under pressure. They practice both mentally and physically. Doing it mentally (visualizing it) is as important as doing it physically. Research conducted at American University followed three hundred students, half of which practiced meditation on a daily basis over a three-month period. Subjects in the meditation group considerably lowered their psychological distress levels while strengthening their coping ability. (Ch.6 The Power of Thought -FFCC)
