Match Corner F-6 Friendly Saints 9-7 MIFA The Saints returned to winning ways after a morale denting 2-1 loss to Garrison the previous evening; and used their understanding within, to pave way en-route to a win in a crunch tie. The Whites lined up with Naeem as the goal-keeper, Ali Sajjad and Ahmad Mehdi in defense, Ahsan bhai joined the usual duo of Ali Imran and Ozil in the centre while Usman Naeem spear-headed the attack. Saints took their time to settle with the pace of the game and conceded two inside the opening five minutes as a poor back-pass from skipper Ali Imran could only find Yaseen who slotted past the despairing Naeem. MIFA then doubled their lead moments later from an acute angle and the Whites were yet to make a response, even carve a clear-cut opening. The breakthrough came through striker Maani who kept his goal-scoring streak on course with a fine finish from inside of the box after a neat exchange of passes with Ozil. The latter then scored himself after a barren run of consecutive zeros in three games, and hence leveled the matters at 2-2. Parity The balance of the tie kept on swinging like a see-saw as both the teams’ capitalized as opportunities started to present themselves. The fluent and crisp passing was all happening as Maani got a real foothold of things from the centre and Ozil scored a beauty from a well-wrapped up shot from the edge of the box; assist Ahasan Bhai. However the introduction of Noshyrwan proved to be the catalyst as the diminutive striker popped up time and again to make space for himself and getting amongst the goals in admirable fashion. Saad Abbasi and Shahmir Khan also made their presence known with good indulgence in the passing and movement while Ahmed Mehdi scored a beautiful goal after a foraging run down the left-line. The complexion of the game appeared to have changed when the opponents fathomed a two goal lead with less than five minutes to spare on the clock. Noshyrwan had all the answers as he brought his team level with a sublime hat-trick and that too when it mattered the most. Usman Naeem added two more in a matter of minutes to complete his hatrick as well and provide cushion with a two goal lead before the final whistle sounded. Well Played MIFA brothers. MOTM: Noshyrwan Ayub Sohail for his brilliant performance and top notch striking which proved match-winning.
