Match Preview: Tondu RFC v Pontypool RFC THE MATCH WILL BE PLAYED AT PANDY PARK, ABERKENFIG AND NOT THE BREWERY FIELD Pontypool, whose best performance of the season was in last Saturday’s excellent victory at Bargoed, are on their travels again this Saturday when they face Tondu in the SWALEC Championship. It was in Pooler’s First Division Championship winning season of 2002-03 when they last played at Pandy Park, coming away with an emphatic 50-3 success. In fact, Pontypool have won 4 and drawn one of their 5 previous visits. Tondu won 31-19 at Blackwood last Saturday and currently occupy 10th position in the league table with 7 wins from 21 games played and 36 league points with Pooler in 7th place with 12 wins and a draw from 20 starts and 60 league points. Pontypool triumphed 40-10 when the sides met at Pontypool Park in early December. There are two personnel changes and one positional change from the Pontypool team which started against Bargoed. Derryn Jones replaces club captain Luke Dyckhoff in the second row while Steve Taylor reverts to full back in place of Mike Burke and Chris Laing comes in on the wing.
