Match Report Sunday 22nd September 2013. Week two of the Season, Ashburton Wanderers stay top of the Premier Division with another win, this time beating Lambeth Tigers 5-2, while at Duppas Hill Nugget FC beat FC Croydon 4-1 away with goals from Scott Booth, Graham Knowles, Daniel Mcgoldrick and man of the match Joe Garvin. Kevin Ikolodo scored the solo for the Croydon side. Kobs United lost 1-2 at home to Santos 92 with Gary Bonsels and man of the match Perry Wild taking the win home for Santos. Souls ‘A’ suffered a 5-2 defeat at home to Wheelwrights FC, with Jamar McKenzie opening the score sheet for the visitors with Paul Monk and Clive Grant adding one each, leaving John Leavy to bag himself a brace for the win and the points for his visiting side. Jimmy Stutters and Daniel Lee hit the back of the Wheelwrights net for Souls. At Harvington, Portland won their second game of the season beating Bosjam 5-3 at home, with James Bennett, Arran Leacock and James Stephenson netting one a piece and Kevin Saunders bagging a brace, keeping Portland on the back of the boots of Ashburton Wanderers in the table. In Division One, Croydon FC enjoyed a 5-0 win at Norman Park against Hayes Eagles with Billy Warren earning himself a hatrick and team mates Michael Cannon and Darren Williams scoring one a piece. It was 3-3 at Oaks Road between AFC Thornton Heath and Banter Central. Michael Blackman, Connor Butler and James Silk scored for The Heath while Elliott Connolly netted one with Justin Said sinking two for the visitors. Another 5-0 result with top of the division AFC Thornton beating KFC at Purley. Winning goals came from Dan Davies, Chris Fisher, Mark Lake-Styles, Matt Perry and Liam Scott. Thornton Athletic lost 2-1 away to second place Surrey Valley, dismissing Adewunmi’s only goal for his away side. Second place Valley’s Dan Jupe sank a brace in the first half lobbing the keeper both times for the win and the points. In Division Two, Croydon City suffered a 7-0 loss to Portland ‘B’ with Portland dominating the game from start to finish. The onslaught of goals came from Adrian Bradley, Phil Broughton, Adam Foley, Adam Henderson, Gary Pocock and a brace from man of the match Aaron Watmore, leaving no doubt about ownership of the game. At Duppas Hill, top of the division Waddon Wanderers celebrated a 7-1 victory over Forum Flyers, whose only goal was a Michael Langley penalty. Waddon led with one goal at half whistle, coming out in the second on a mission and a crowd of goals from Barry Charman, Ross Harvey, and Duane Henry who each netted braces with Aaron Hopkins adding his one for the win. Croydon JFC had a 5-3 home win against South United, despite United holding form and leading two one by the end of first half. Final whistle saw two from man of the match Symon Trathen and one from Aaron Antonio for Addington United, but not enough to hold JFCs Robbie Escrader netting a goal and then Charlie Gee and Alex Sutton bagging braces. Croydon Postal Reserves bit a 3-0 home loss to Souls ‘B’ in a tight game, where Ashley Buckenham said through to hit the back of the Postal net twice and Jamal Longeran sank the third, giving second place Souls their second win. It was 1-1 at Oasis between Addiscombe Corinthians and Croydon Corporation. Corinthians Conor Hawes opened the Addiscombe Score sheet, but with ten minutes to half time, Corporation’s Ian Holloway sailed through to header home the equaliser. With a new formation and different tactics, Corporation hoped to minimise the threat on their goal, which proved successful by final whistle. In Division Three, top of the division Sanco, beat Addington United 4-2 with Wayne Hayler netting a hatrick and earning man of the match and Karim Smail adding the fourth for the visiting side. Billy Dangerfield and Billy Saunders scored the goals for Addington. Croydon JFC Reserves celebrated an away win beating Albany Falcons 8-2. JFC Reserves winners came from Ellis Burke sinking three, Daniel Canning netting two and Jack Benetar, Matthew Chamberlain and Jack Naraine scoring one a piece. Souls ‘C’ lost 4-1 away to Canterbury Park with their only goal coming from a Leon Thomas penalty. Canterbury dominated the game with a three nil lead by half time with their winners coming from Francis Tyrone, Christian Gomez, Juan Grisales and Shawn Lyle. There were no goals at Ashburton between Shirley Wanderers and second place AFC Shirley, but there were plenty of goals in the meet between Warlingham Penguins and Club Tropicana Drinks where the Penguins revel in what was a close game but a 5-4 home win for them, with Mitch Clegg scoring a hatrick and Seb Collins and Darren Boyce netting one each for their side.
