Match Report – Moisties vs Wanderers Date: Sunday, 18th Jan 2015 Venue: Grahame Stewart Park Time: 10:00am Result: Moisties (174/7 off 20) defeated Wanderers (152/6 off 20) by 22 runs. **Murray’s Mayhem Missiles Moisties to Victory** The Moisties were back in business, and dead keen to impress, while the Wanderers were returning, looking to go one better than their previous two seasons and advance through to a GF down the track. Moisties would bat first, and displayed a sense of freedom that has been missing from their performances in previous seasons. Dan Kidd and Chris Hanlon began the innings well, before Kidd was removed for 13 off 10. Chris Hanlon however looked to capitalise on a good start before he was knocked over for 21 off 11. Anthony Murray then stood up amidst a horrid collapse that saw James Soanes (9 off 4), Chris Morris (3 off 4), Matthew Kidd (0 off 4) and Adam Grice (2 off 3) all fall in quick succession. Anthony Murray was unfazed by this horrid collapse, launching into the Wanderers attack to re-stabilise the Moisties innings. Ant was given fantastic support by Brendan Goundar who ground out an unbeaten 27 off 30, as Anthony pushed towards a century. Ant would fall just short, dismissed for 99 off 34 much to the disappointment of the LMS star, who rescued the Moisties from ruins to allow Moisties to post 174/7 off their 20. Craig McGregor was the pick of the bowlers claiming 2/26 off 4, along with Matt Stewart who snared 2/24 off 3. With 175 needed on a sluggish outfield, the Wanderers would need a good performance from their top order. They began poorly, losing Dylan Foster 2nd ball for 0. Rob and Karl then combined, as they always do to pile on the runs at a steady rate. Whilst they occupied the crease and continued to tick the score over, Moisties maintained the control with tidy bowling. Rob squeezed his way to a 40 ball half century, while Karl cruised to another half century, notching up 50* off 29. A few late order cameos couldn’t quite rescue the Wanderers, as Luke Hepworth slammed 22 off 11 to no avail. The Wanderers fell just 22 runs short, after being heavily pegged back by a superb and token Adam Grice spell which saw him finish with 2/16 off 4. Chris Morris was also dynamic with the ball in hand, claiming 2/21 off 4. Man of the Match: Anthony Murray (MOISTIES) 99 off 34 Author: LMS_Codey Scorecard: lastmanstands/scorecard&fixtureid=102573
