Match reports from a lean week for the BCC, with only A1s A2s & the Sunday Mob bringing home the biccies. Lets get back on the horse in Rd 4! **A1 def St Ives** St Ives resumed at 4/60 in their attempt to chase down our assailable total of 230. The wicket was a belter and a disciplined bowling display was required. Some early pressure applied by the Watts bros saw both of them pick up a wicket which left St Ives reeling. The danger man Pryor soon fell thanks to a great catch from Francois. At drinks, we needed 3 wickets and St Ives needed 10 runs to avoid the follow on. Scott and Will got one each, before Willo took the final wicket with one run to spare. We enforced the follow on with Brad bowling with some serious venom and Muzz bowling an unplayable line, both striking early with the new ball. We had St Ives 3 down at tea. Brad and Francois took a couple of poles shortly after the break to have St Ives reeling at 6/70, still trailing by 30 runs. Unfortunately, we lost concentration and didnt take a few chances that we normally wouldve, which wouldve seen us well placed for an outright win. We called it off after St Ives hitters used their second lives to tee off, taking us for 90 in a 9 over period. Willo was the main attraction, with his last 4 balls going for 20. Despite an unfortunate finish to the day, this should do nothing to halt our momentum coming up to the big one against ARL this Saturday. We are the only A Grade side undefeated in all competitions. Lets keep on keeping on! **A2 def Mt Colah** Day 1 of round 3 saw us get sent into bat, and at 2 for 9 early on you wouldnt think we would bat out the day. But we did thanks to some brilliant innings from our middle order batsmen. Luke Tobin hit a sensational 70 with a wide range of shots showing his technical ability and patience when needed. He and McNay steered the Berowra ship back into calm seas, with young Nick putting together a crafty 55no showing his class and temperament. At 7-176, Nathan Elder walked to the crease with one thing on his mind, quick runs. He hit a blistering 44no including a monster 6 over the Mt Kuring-gai sheds. The score after the days play was 7-250 against the current top of the table team. Day 2 began with us hitting a quick 15 runs in 3 overs thanks to McNay who ended up on 68. Phil and Doug took the new ball and restricted their batsmen to very few runs with only 1 boundary being hit in the first 12 overs. Doug (3-32) grabbed the first 2 wickets with the help of some handy glovework from Liam down the leg side. The spinning combination of Tobin (1-35) and Cook saw another 2 wickets fall for little damage as the batsmen seemed to be playing for the draw from the outset. At 5 for 66 the batsmen shut up shop and with a controversial stumping decision turned down, things were beginning to get tense as the close of play loomed. But a second spell for both Phil Reid (3-28) and AJ (3-50) saw that the wickets kept falling with Phil grabbing the last wicket with 3 overs to go. A good victory which showed the teams ability to not give up and get the job done. Cheers, AJ **B1 Grade def by St Ives** St Ives resumed batting on day 2 at 8/232, our intentions were obviously to take the two quick Ws without too much damage done and get out there and bat better then the round previous. Though a quick 30 runs were conceded, Howard Smith picked up his 4th and finished with 4/42, Cal-tex ending their innings for probably a par score of 251. Like I mentioned our aim was to bat better then round 2 and put some value on each wicket. Tommy Guts Marriott got us off to a good start coming off his ton but was back in the sheds for 13. Fellow opener Chops wasnt too far behind him for 7 and a collapse was on the cards again. Our middle order each saw enough balls to claim they probably got themselves in but couldnt hang around with Brad Rayner who took the scoring responsibilities entirely on his shoulders. When Briggs, Nash, Smith and Onions were all back in the sheds with single figures to their name, it wasnt good but with Braddo going great guns there was always a glimmer of hope. Late resistance came from Robbie North who started to find the middle of his bat and had a great cameo of 36 and hung around with Brad to see him make his well earned hundred. The scoring rate slowly crept into it and we knew we had to keep it flowing, probably bringing Brads undoing for 113, a great effort. Small resistance from the tail had us in with a sniff but it wasnt to be, bowled out 16 short for 232. A lot of improving needs to be done with both bat and ball, letting teams hit 200+ against us too easily and crumbling twice now with the bat. Eyes on next game boys. **C Reserve Match report round 3 V St Ives** Round three saw us up against St Ives and they surprisingly put us into bat on day 1. The boys all put in with the bat against a St Ives attack which was always on the money in regards to tight bowling. We managed to have 7 batsmen with good starts but only Tim watts continued with his his recent great form in compiling a very patient 42. Other good scores of note were Jordan 29,Bill 22,Des 21,Greg J 27 and Tatey 18 off 11 at the end. We really needed more partnerships and more of the batsmen to go on to get big scores after healthy starts. 213 was always going to be tough to defend at Foxglove. The bowlers started off really well with Bhanu and Tim putting in the big ones and at the first break we had them 3-60.St Ives continued to roll along until tea and we needed something to happen soon.Jordan came on and picked up two very quick wickets to have them at 6-139 and it was game on !. Unfortunately St Ives came back and although we tried hard they proved too good in the end, finishing at 6-217. As i mentioned i think we needed another 40 - 50 more runs and we were a big chance. I hope the boys are enjoying their cricket and i am sure we will get a win up soon. Greg J **Berowra C3 vs St Ives** saw our inexperienced team put in a more disciplined performance with bat and ball. After a shaky start at 2/8 the first week saw us almost bat out 75 overs (something we have struggled to do so far) with a promising start by Aaron Ponnonpalam with 16 and Dan Enever with 19. Nick Crosweller really stood up with a quick fire 40, Nick never letting the bowlers getting into any rhythm with 6 boundaries along the way. And Michael Hefferman again showed us what he is capable of with 45 coming in at number 7 – eventually we were all out for 175 with the day made sweeter by having St Ives 1-1 after Aaron took a terrific diving catch off Nick to complete a great day out for Crossy. Day 2 dawned hot and smoky with difficult bowling conditions. At 3-64 it was anyone’s game but a fourth wicket partnership of 77 took the game away from us with us putting down 3 or 4 sharp chances that could have made things different. All the young fast bowlers (Crossy, Sean, Bede) tried hard on the sandy run-ups and hot windy conditions but St Ives batted very patiently to win the second session hands down. A Gatorade fired up the boys and we took 3 further wickets after tea which was a reflection of the effort we put in. In the end St ives chased down our 175 with the loss of 6 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Crossy with his nagging seamers netting him a tidy 2-32 off 11 overs. **D2 def by Kisso** As the boys gathered we elected to bat. Joe and michael opened joe fell early (13) michael batted for a scratchy 23. Mick looked solid but fell (14) Nick Daniel and Travis fell shortly after. Gary went for 12 Seb and Russel batted very well getting 22 and 12. Then ben and nick added a few all out 146. As kissing point batted mick took two early wickets. 2-47 stumps the game in balance. Day two began with our heads up first gamer steve jones lead the way in the field. Joe took two in a row. We had them 5-100 we had a big chance. Then 5 loose overs fielding and bowling and that cost us the game. Seb got 2 which was deserved and daniel and nick got a wicket each. All out 230. They sent us in for outright with a new look order nick and trav went in and fell in the opening overs. Ben batted amazing for his highest score 25 and mick was run out. Daniel and ben batted well daniel getting 26no. Seb got 12. Then michael had a hit. We finished 6-96 we need a lot of improvement in out batting and fielding we need to prize our wicket lift the intensity in the field. All bowlers must be making the batsmen play every ball keep the pressure on. We are a good side if we focus and do our jobs. Joe
