Mathematics 101. Listen closely students, as there will be a short test at the end of the lesson. A man works for a company for close to 2 years. The company sack him and withhold his last months wages. (a 5 week month) The man only receives £71.31 per week for 8 weeks in the form of tax credits. His council rent and council tax total around £110 per week. For the whole of the 8 weeks period the man is given £78.28 housing benefit. (as a one off payment, not per week) Ok students, here is the short test...... How is a man supposed to pay £110 per week to the said council, PLUS feed and clothe himself and his son, PLUS pay for gas and electricity, PLUS pay his direct debits for phone, mobile, broadband etc etc when he only has £71.31 income per week?? Answers on a postcard please. Anyone with the correct solution will receive a gold star AND be promoted to Hall Monitor.
