Mathew Staver, Founder and Chairman Liberty Counsel 1/24/2014 Here’s a sick turn of events: The Obama administration has issued veiled threats to Israel’s leadership to stop their open disagreement with his policies. He is concerned that his poor approval rating in Israel is causing a revolt among U.S. Jews in the Democratic Party! Although we condemn his tactics, he has every reason to be concerned about alienating Americans with his disjointed foreign policy in the Middle East. Please see my important update below – Mat. It appears that President Obama’s misguided foreign policies are adversely affecting his approval ratings at home – especially among Jewish voters. A Jerusalem Post report says the Obama administration “perceives Israel as encouraging a backlash among the Jews in America.” Here’s what the Israeli paper said… “A U.S. official close to President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry said both men are disturbed over what is being perceived in their inner circle as ‘Jewish activism in Congress’ that they think is being encouraged by the Israeli government.” The official has informed Israeli government figures that the President and Secretary of State are disappointed over repeated attacks made against them by leading members of the Jewish community in the U.S. Meanwhile, according to Israel Radio, Israeli diplomats and foreign officers have warned against this trend. They say the Israeli government is increasingly being viewed as fanning the flames among American Jews. ++Surprise, surprise: President Obama is issuing threats! The President is engaging in the Chicago-style politics we have seen him use in advancing his domestic agenda to squash this insurrection in the Democrat Party. He has issued subtle threats to Israeli leaders to stop openly disagreeing with his policies and challenging his decisions. Barack Obama has repeatedly declared that Israel is a trusted ally, while simultaneously undermining that nation’s very sovereignty. For instance, his administration has sided with the Palestinians on the issue of the disputed territories and other crucial issues. President Obama even declared that Israel should return to its pre-1967 boundaries, which would result in a physically divided, indefensible Israel! The fact is, his incoherent foreign policies have aided and abetted Israel’s enemies and greatly facilitated the rapid rise of radical Islam throughout the region. Further, the President has now brokered a nuclear deal with Iran, a nation sworn to the annihilation of Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has derided the agreement from the beginning, calling it a “historic mistake.” Included in that deal is the release of an estimated $7 billion in economic sanctions and frozen assets, which can be used for any purpose, including the funding of terrorism. In the United States, President Obama’s approval ratings have reached an all-time low, while he is experiencing an even worse approval rating in Israel! Barack Obama should not think that he will find any favor among American Jews with his ill-advised policies toward Israel – recently highlighted by his outrageous deal with Iran.
