Alert la Art.. People without much experience in art often do not know what to look for in a work of art. They might glance quickly at a painting or sculpture and decide immediately if they like it or not. In a museum, they hurry past much of the art and unfortunatly miss out on a lot. However, while in art school I learnt to look at art in two special ways: the use of art Criticsm and art History. Each has four steps. In art criticism, students learn first to describe the work of art(What people and things are in the work? What are the details, colors, lines, shapes, and space relationships?) Then they analyze the work.(How are the various parts organized?). After that, they interpret it.( What feelings, moods, and ideas does the art communicate?) Finally, they judge it.(Is it a successful work of art?). Art history allows students to learn the story behind the work of art. When, where, and by whom wast it made? What is the style? How was the artist influenced by the world around him or her? How important is the work?.. In other words, art history can enrich our understanding and enjoyment of art... Ars longa, vita brevis~
