Matlaba too short for derby, VV? An insult to SA football - Dumitru Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Ted Dumitru, is fuming after new Orlando Pirates coach Vladimir Vermezovics decision to bench the versatile left-back,Thabo Matlaba, on Saturday derby at FNB stadium. He took on Facebook to share his frustration and called VVs decision an insult to SA football. VV reckons Matlabas height was the reason behind his decision to bench him. “Thabo Matlaba is a very short guy, so I couldn’t start with him because Chiefs players are very tall, the biggest problem for coaches in the Soweto derby is to get the boys focused, they play with their hearts more than with their minds., said former Chiefs coach. Ted further commented and question VVs tactics: The ONLY reason mentioned by VV for not using Matlaba was his HEIGHT and NOT tactics. Thoughts? Was VVs decision to bench Matlaba an insult to SA football?
