Matt Kahn, design professor emeritus at Stanford University, died recently. Matt was a design consultant for Eichler Homes and did the interior design for the model homes. In addition to working together, my father and Matt were friends, and I have fond memories of visiting his home and playing with his kids when I was young. I have to wonder if being around the creative environment in his home had some influence on me aesthetically. It certainly did on his children, both of whom studied art at Stanford, one of whom becoming a photographer and the other an artist and designer.
