Matthew 14:25-29 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. Peter answered Him and said, Lord if it be thou, bud me to come unto thee on the water. And He said, Come, And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. Here in this passage of scripture we see the familiar story of Peter walking on the water. I know that I and many other preachers have preached many times on what Peter did wrong here, by allowing the storm to distract him, and get him to take his eyes off of Jesus. But tonight I want to focus on what Peter did right. When Jesus came to them walking on the sea, Peter was the only one that said, if it be you, ask me to come to you on the sea!!!!! Peter had enough faith in Jesus, that he left the safety of the ship to go to Jesus. He believed that he could walk on the water, just because Jesus said that he could. Peter was willing to step out of his comfort zone to follow Jesus. Now, did any of the other eleven follow Peter and walk on the sea? No!!!!! They all chose to stay in the ship, you could say, that they chose to stay within their comfort zone rather then to trust Jesus and get out of the safety of the ship. That leads me to ask the question, what is keeping us in the ship? Why are we not willing to step outside of our comfort zone to follow Jesus? Why can we not just put our faith and trust in Jesus and follow Him? I mean think about it, the Lord is calling out to us to do a work for Him, but we constantly get hung up on our fears, or our flesh, or our inadequacies and choose to just stay in what we feel is a safe place, or in the ship, or within our comfort zone. Sometimes we remain in bondage to things that Jesus has already delivered us from. Why? Because even though we may not like the situation, we afraid of the uncharted territory. Even after Jesus has promised us, and proven to us, time and time again that He will take care of us, we are still unwilling to step out in faith and follow Him!!!!!!! Jesus has called us to follow Him, He has called us to let Him have control and to just trust in Him. The bible tells us to trust in the Lord, and to lean not on our own understanding. I mean really, what do we think that He cannot do? What do we thing that He cannot deliver us from, or protect us from? He is God!!!!!!!!! He knows all, and is able to do all, if we can only trust Him!!!!!!! We need to learn to let go of ourselves, let go of our control, and let Jesus have the reins, let Him be in control of our lives!!!!!!!! We need to think about whatever it is that is holding us back and get rid of it!!!!!!!!! Hebrews 12:1-2 tells us Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. Simply put, let us Let Go and Let God!!!!!!!!! Step out of your comfort zone today and follow Him!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
