Matthew 16: 24 “If any man will come after me, let him deny - TopicsExpress

Matthew 16: 24 “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” This is one of my favorite scriptures and I repeat it a lot. How simple of a thing it is just to set our own wishes aside and do for others while following Jesus. Yet, so many times, things come along to hinder us, or to detour us from doing what is ion our hearts for God. Prayer time is often interrupted, bible reading and study is often hindered by other cares. And we find our selves struggling spiritually, or some times in trouble because of our spiritual weakness, or better-phrased personal choices. No, it is not always our fault that we struggle or are weak spiritually, but it has been my observation that many times it is. Another thing that hinders us and keeps us from being obedient to God’s commands is fear. Afraid of what others might think say or do. And this is a funny thing, because people will paint their faces and make absolute fools out of them selves for the home team! Yet, be afraid of what some one else might think or say if they do something for God! Jesus told James, Peter and John after they saw him with Moses and Elias on the mountain, to “arise and be not afraid!” I believe that when it comes to being obedient to God; Jesus would tell you the same thing. Remember it is not about us, it is about the Lord and our being obedient no matter what! God Bless, Bro Don
