Matthew 23:23-25 "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess." How quickly we can leap to criticize and judge the actions and faith of another, while we tolerate so much from ourselves. How eager we are to myopically point to the speck in the eye of a brother, though our own vision is blurred by the festering splinter in our own. (Matthew 7:4) "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." (Psalm 139:23-24) May God purge from our hearts any satisfaction we find in ourselves by comparison to each other and bring us to humble knees in the presence of His righteousness and grace. -- Pastor Brad
