Matthew 27:50-54 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud - TopicsExpress

Matthew 27:50-54 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” You read that right, tombs opened and people who were dead came out of their graves upon Jesus resurrection. Think about what that must have been like. The fabric of creation seizes as Christ releases His spirit. In this moment, you cannot deny who He is. Five things that virtually never happen, all happen in the same moment. Creation itself is crying out in response to what has taken place. At this moment, the moment where Christ says, it is finished, all hell breaks loose. The severe depth of this moment is lost on me. The impact though is timeless and life bringing. Deaths hold on us through sin is forever compromised, shattered by the power of what Jesus has done. Light has broken through the darkness and invites us to come.
