Matthew 5:17-19 Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law - TopicsExpress

Matthew 5:17-19 Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them. I tell you solemnly, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, shall disappear from the Law until its purpose is achieved. Therefore, the man who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of heaven; but the man who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of heaven. The Law and the words of the Prophets, will always be. The Old Testament will always be there. Jesus came, he fulfilled the Law, the New Testament was written, yet we STILL must hold fast to the old. Many people think that the new covenant gives us a free pass to go out and sin because now, all our sins - past, present and future, have already been forgiven. We STILL must try and walk the walk that was given before Christ came. Jesus says to continue keeping them and teaching them. Are we held responsible under the Law? No, we are now held accountable under the new covenant which is in Christ Jesus, our redeemer. Father today, we thank you for the Law, we thank you for the Prophets, and we thank you for your Son whom you sent to fulfill all these things. Bless each one as we continue in your Word. In Jesus name....
