Matthew 6:25-34 Cell - TopicsExpress

Matthew 6:25-34 Cell Phones THOUGHT FOR TODAY: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:26 (NIV) Cell phones have come a long way, haven’t they? Twenty years ago, a mobile phone was a bulky, expensive luxury. Not so today. This generation’s mobile phone is considered a necessity and has more processing power than an early computer large enough to fill an entire room. And it fits in your pocket! Cell phones also seem to reflect a number of human anxieties. The top smart-phones can edit, save, and print documents from almost anywhere. They also possess sophisticated mapping technology. They are designed to counteract anything that could possibly go wrong. It would seem we have nothing to worry about. The counterintuitive fact, though, is that, for all our troubleshooting toys, we are more stressed than ever. Jesus told us not to worry about life. After all, God feeds the sparrows of the air and clothes the lilies of the field, and we are far more valuable than they. Quite simply, we can’t handle worrying about everything in our lives; it wears us out. So stop and breathe. Put the cell phone down. God is holding you up. PRAYER: Master of the Universe, pry my life from my clenched grip. The truth is, I can’t handle it alone. Amen. Chandler J.
