Matthew Whelan Update: Hello, Well what a week I cant believe it went by so fast. Matthew finally got his hair cut yesterday after 4 months. I participate as much as I can during Matthews therapies. He continues to move his arms and holds his head up on his on for 3-6 seconds and moves his tongue like he wants to say something. I have been working on his awareness ribbons so Ill be sending them back to Bradford so keep your eyes open for them. I wanted to say thank you to Brittany Louise and Dani Close for driving down and bring Matthew books to read. It was great to have you hear! I came upon an old video of Matthew when he was 5 and we would apply music to his learning all the time and this little tune was M-A-T-T-H-E-W thats how you spell Matthews name. When I saw it I teared up and it made me miss him so much. It brought out that fear that my little boy is gone and I dont know if he is coming back. The one thing that he has shown no sign of is swallowing. The Ear, Nose and Throat doctors do want to scope him to see whats going on there. Just to imagine that my son may never speak again, sing again, smile again or eat again. I constantly am fighting these fears. I have to believe that Matthew still has so much to say and so much to still do in his life and his smile is too contagious to take away. So please join me in praying for his healing. Here I am Lord, is it I Lord, I have heard you calling in the night, I will go Lord if you lead me I will hold your people in my heart. The past two days have been a little tough on me. I just love him so much! Dear Lord of Mercy and Father of Comfort, You are the One I turn to for help in moments of weakness and times of need. I ask you to be with Matthew in this semi conscious state. Psalm 107:20 says that you send out your Word and heal. So then, please send your healing Word to Matthew. In the name of Jesus, drive out all infirmity and fully wake him from this state and bring him back to us. Heal his brain stem and eyes. Renew his spirit and bring back his smile and voice of laughter. Dear Lord, I ask you to turn his weakness into strength, suffering into compassion, sorrow into joy, and pain into comfort. May Matthew trust in your goodness and hope in your faithfulness, even in the middle of this suffering. Let him be filled with patience and joy in your presence as he waits for your healing touch. Please restore Matthew to full health, dear Father. Remove all fear and doubt from his heart by the power of your Holy Spirit, and may you, Lord, be glorified through his life. As you heal and renew Matthew Lord, may he bless and praise you. All of this I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
