Maturity Luke 2:52 “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” As Jesus matured in age, He matured both mentally and spiritually as well. He displayed to us by example the crucial importance of maturing in the faith. I truly believe that one of the greatest problems we are running into in Christianity today is lack of maturity. Here are several important thoughts about Christian maturity. *By the time a Christian is two to three years old in Christ he ought to be displaying outward evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” For instance if the love of God, joy in the faith, patience, and self-control is not seen in his life he is not maturing in the faith. * By the time a Christian has been saved two or three years he ought to be attending all the church services; if he is not he has not matured like he should. * By the time a believer has been saved two of three years he ought to be in the position to help others spiritually to some degree. * By the time a Christian has been saved two or three years he ought to have developed convictions and standards that differentiate him from the world. Smoking and drinking ought to be history. Dress standards should be adopted. Language should be cleaned up. Literature and entertainment should be Christian oriented. * By the time a couple has been saved two or three years their marriage relationship ought to be an example to others coming into the church.
