Mauritius Racing Tips - Meeting 22 Race 1 SURPRISING DREAM put in a solid performance in his last start. He finished second before being demoted to fourth. He is on the up and with a good draw he is the best chance for the Mahess Ramdin stable to open their account this season. R. Joorawon stays on board. Hills Of Rome is another horse who is improving with every run this year. He is an honest performer who finished a close second last time. The poor draw should not be a big concern for this back marker. Sylvester was thereabouts in his last two outings. Sunil Bussunt should find a nice position in the race from barrier 4 and with an additional 100m to travel, he will finish strongly. His stable mate, Fidelis, started his last two races as favourite but failed to justify that status as he finished over 2 lengths behind the winner each time. He has an awkward draw and will be S. Golam’s first ride. Don’t rule out Bali Mojo, who is running in a lower class. He is in fine shape, and should he get a nice break, he is one to follow even though he hasn’t won yet over that longer trip. Santos is a worthy outsider. Top Tip: SURPRISING DREAM Watch out: Hills of Rome, Sylvester, Bali Mojo Race 2 MAESTRO’S SALUTE was back to winning ways after a short break last time. The Var gelding might be in the lead once again and will be hard to down in the last straight with Richard Mullen this time. Smitten failed to fire last time out where he could only manage to finish fourth. He did well during his workouts and is still in a fine shape. Should finish strongly this time as he drops back to 1000m. Captain’s Cronicle burns a lot of fuel during the trip as he pulled in his first two races and thus weakens in the end. The pace is normally on from the start on 1000m sprints and this should help him relax. He has a good draw and Joorawon up this time. Catwalk Model did well on debut but has a poor draw while Joe’s legacy can be included in exotic bets. Top Tip: MAESTRO’S SALUTE Watch out: Smitten, Catwalk Model, Captain’s Cronicle Race 3 DUST IN THE WIND has been knocking at the door in his last few races. Down in category this time and back on the Draper’s mile, his first win may be just around the corner. Dreams Come True is a horse, who goes well fresh. Withdrawn last time, he resumes racing after four weeks. He will break from an intermediate draw and will be closing in late. McNaught is at his best when he gets to lead. He will break from barrier 2 on Saturday and if he is not bothered in front, he will be tough to down as Avranche rides him for the first time. Further improvement is expected from Jungle Skyline who drops back on 1500m. He breaks from the ace while Yoda Man should be seen again with apprentice Sola. Yoda Man is an interesting outsider. He tried to follow close to the pace on his previous start, and could not maintain his effort in the home straight. Claiming 3 pounds with the ride of Vikram Sola, he should give a good account of himself. Top Tip: DUST IN THE WIND Watch out: Jungle Skyline, Mc Naught, Dreams Come True Race 4 TED BASSETT has had a break of almost two months. If he repeats the performance of his debut, he will be tough to beat. Is back in 31-15 but has a poor draw. Daryl Holland has a top chance to score first up for his new employer aboard Beautiful Bhutan who returns after 7 days. The horse is in a good shape and has a good draw this time. He was unlucky last Saturday as he couldn’t find the gap at the right moment. Drawn on the outside in his last two races, Bongo Beat did not perform as well as he did earlier in the season. If he gets a soft lead from barrier 3, he should give a better account of himself. Joyful has a poor draw and his chances depend on the running of the race. The newcomer Nordic Warrior makes his debut in this race. He worked out regularly in training and is an interesting outsider. Marine Sky is another to include in exotic bets. Top Tip: TED BASSETT Watch out: Beautiful Bhutan, Bongo Beat, Joyful Race 5 Bolting Cat has a chance to redeem himself in this race. He lost 3 points on the rating scale since the start of the season and is down in class. He benefits of the 3kg claim of his apprentice and if he manages to get into a good position, he will be tough to hold out. Wonder Kid has had a slow start to the current season but his last two outings have been very encouraging. He looks very well condition-wise and should be closing in the last stretch. Hot Rocket was beaten by a whisker last time out by Posse Comitatus. The only concern this time is the poor draw. If he races one off close to the pace, he should get into the reckoning. Ridge Too Far and Even Chance can run in the money. The latter has a good draw and can upset the odds if allowed to lead. Top Tip: BOLTING CAT Watch out: Wonder Kid, Hot Rocket, Even Chance Race 6 Seeking Angelo returns after a short spell with stable jockey J. Geroudis back in the irons. He looked his usual self at the gallops and is expected to bounce back after an average performance last time out. Awesome Power is a top purchase by the Gujadhur stable. He makes his debut and will have the advantage to break from the ace. Has competed against some of the very best in his native South Africa and is ready for this race after two barrier trials this month itself. Living With Heart is back on a more appropriate distance. The 1850m might have been a little too far for him last time. He is still in a good shape and has a decent draw. Rock Of Arts has finished in the placings in four outings so far. The blinkers go off and if he can overcome the draw, he will be thereabouts once again. The bottom weight Roman Manner looks a promising young horse on his South African form and should be followed as he makes his debut. Top Tip: SEEKING ANGELO Watch out: Awesome Power, Living With Heart, Roman Manner Race 7 Zhan Hu comes into this race in very good form, with 3 wins and a second place in his last 4 starts. He confirmed that the 1365m was not a problem and will now be tested over 1400m with the false rail at 5m. Is still in a fine shape. USHOKOLETHI is up two classes in the space of three races but has been impressive in his last two starts to suggest he can make it again. He has enough gate speed and is the most likely front-runner despite the awkward draw. Indaba My Children was somewhat disappointing last time after a good performance in the Duchess. He returns after 3 months and will be tongue tied for the first time. Racketeer Blues is a good each-way bet, along with Traianius, who drops back to 51-35 but has a bad draw. Traianius is a genuine sort and if he gets a good position from Stall 10, he is a decent each way bet. Top Tip: USHOKOLETHI Watch out: Zhan Hu, Indaba My Children, Racketeer Blues Race 8 The penultimate event looks to be the most competitive race of the day. EAGLE AWARD is on a hat trick. He had an excellent workout last Tuesday and is in a tip-top condition at the moment. He has a good chance to score once again. Direct Approach will be more comfortable on the mile. He has a poor draw but will finish strongly once again under Holland. Blue Berry is unbeaten with Gerald Avranche. He is up two classes but should be in a striking position during the trip as he breaks on the rails. Southern Heights ran an improved race last time and should be followed, mostly because J. Bardottier has preferred to ride him rather than Unbridled Joy, who shouldn’t be ruled out completely. . Nothing Compares has drawn very badly, and will have loads of questions to answer. Top Tip: EAGLE AWARD Watch out: Direct Approach, Blue Berry, Southern Heights Race 9 LION’S PRINT bounced back in his last race where he finished runner-up. He drops a class. However, he has a good draw, is expected to lead and be hard to down in the final straight. Pont D’Avignon is up in class after his last win. He has a very good finish and will once again finish strongly. Rulerofmyheart is back in 36-20. He will break on the inside this time and can salute the judge once again. Prince Alwahtan is slowly finding the form that saw him win four races. He will be ridden by S.Golam and should be in the top four. Top Tip: LION’S PRINT Watch out: Pond d’Avignon, Rulerofmyheart, Prince Alwahtan Source : MTC
