May 11-12, 2013 Fayette County Lake Tournament Report Saturday Conditions: Air temp was in mid-60’s in the morning and warmed to 80 in the afternoon. Partly sunny and light breeze to 12 mph. Scattered thunderstorms in the area, but none developed over the lake. Sunday Conditions: Daybreak was in the mid-60’s much like the day before. Air temps increased to 80 by the noon and increasing sunshine. Lake level was at pool. Water temps ranged from mid to upper 60’s at the ramp to mid-90s at the hot water discharge. The launch & weigh in was held at Oak Thicket Park. Reports from teams that were able to pre-fish Friday were very encouraging -- even an over slot fish was landed by visitor Glen Barton who was fishing with the Hendricksons. Surprisingly, there were good reports of good bites up shallow which is not typical for this warm water lake in May. Saturday’s weigh in was at 5pm. We had 6 boats out that brought in a total of 21 bass (all under slot) for 24lbs-5oz. Larry Mora showed off his 17lb flathead catfish that ate his worm near the end of the baffle. Only 4 boats made it out Sunday to bring in a total of 17 bass for 19lbs 7oz (all under slot). Congratulations to Jack & Linda Washmon who took first place with a consistent 2-day limit of healthy “unders” beating the Moras who were the only other couple to manage catching a full bag both days.
