May 28, 2014: It feels like a déjà vu to the Derg era. Still we are not in prison yet we are prisoners of fear and oppression. The unwritten law revoked the written one. Fear has reigned and overwhelmed the nation. The extent to which we are made to self-suppress our views and limit our dreams have long gone wild. Politics is beyond a taboo today. It has become the most dreaded subject of discussion we often confine only to close friends or relatives. We fear talking politics, criticizing government and expressing dissent freely. We fear discussing in group. We fear to organize. We fear to assemble. We fear holding a totally different and opposing views than the government. Silence is what terrorism is not. The elites are silent, the people are silent, the technocrats are silent, the civil servants are silent, the business community are silent, the opinion leaders are silent, the political leaders are silent, the elders are silent and the students are silent. Silence is the new voice in Ethiopia. Tyranny accepts no resistance and submission is the only freedom. It was exactly so during the Deg regime. This too is #FruitsOfGinbot20! #Derg_also
