May is National Hepatitis Awareness Month highlighting the silent epidemic of more than 5 million Americans suffering from chronic hepatitis. Each day this week, WCCHD’s FB page will feature one of the five types of Hepatitis. Today we are highlighting Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is the most common chronic blood borne infection in the United States; approximately 3.2 million persons are chronically infected.
