Maybe a quarter of my ancestors were New Englanders from way way - TopicsExpress

Maybe a quarter of my ancestors were New Englanders from way way back. They were apparently in the second wave to migrate from the stultifying Puritan environment of Boston to Hartford and then Fairfield County. When they got there the land was all locked up by earlier settlers, whose names are still associated with Greenwich and surrounding areas. So no land! How do we live in 1680 if we cant farm? By our wits. Yankee ingenuity and pushing the envelope got us through (mostly - not always). I see the Yank in me. Almost all the rest is Irish, and I see that too. Its good to learn not just the names, dates, and places but the demands that shaped us and to which we adapted. This is a plug for family history, and our own personal histories.
