Maybe the isolated incidents dont get folks thinking. Perhaps some - TopicsExpress

Maybe the isolated incidents dont get folks thinking. Perhaps some need a montage. I happen to actually know about about most of these shown and in none of them is their much of a justification. We always hear folks saying we dont know what happened before. As a person trained in handling in out of control people without actual violence as a teen (peer-run, therapeutic community, if you must know), I do NOT believe their is ANY excuse for any violence portrayed here. Now one thing we have been accused of, I would like to remedy if I could. They say we dont show all the good things cops do. Well, between the local news and the general self-promotion by cops themselves, I think most folks are reasonably aware of cops they do good things, but are more often than not, in the dark on police misconduct, thus accusing someone of not showing the good side of cops is just BS to not confront the realities. (So what if that copped raped a woman pulled over for DUI, think of all the good things he did) The the one thing I would like to find are example of cops doing their job properly in apprehending thugs and assorted criminals. Ironically, the source for that was a very popular TV show. Apparently when you invite a major network TV show along for the ride, you put up your better trained, more stable officers. Very rare did we see officers punching, kicking, beating, repeatedly tasering, punching in the face for a verbal slight. That is why our detractors are really full of shit. America watched a decade of police on TV doing the job right. There are no excuses for police assault, except in the rare case of them being outnumbers by an attacking mob. Sure, gloves off, let the fists decide. But I dont share videos of thugs with guns, of folks lunging at cops with knifes, of people violently resisting. The latest, the man in NY who was choked to death (yes, the was the final verdict from the M.E.), while physically resisting arrest, was in no way using any violence or threats of violence. Choking a suspect who resists arrest on suspicion of a misdemeanor should never be allowed. That guy should be in doing time in prison for 1st Degree Manslaughter, negligent homicide at the least. No consider that negligent homicide is when someone dies because of some neglect on your part. The cop was negligent because he was not following the rules.
