Maybe youve had people question your sanity about going on a mission to Mexico. After all, its a scary and risky place, right? (Although who ever gets those arguments when they announce theyre going to Cabo or Puerta Vallarta?) Well, heres a true story to show another side of the story. A couple of weeks ago, a group from Washington state were on a short-term mission trip at Welcome Home. One of the young men lost his wallet, couldnt figure out how or where it had dropped out of his jacket, and went back to the states without it -- after asking the Welcome Home staff to be on the look out. Today, good news came. The wallet was found by a man in Vicente Guerrero. Recognizing that the identification belonged to American, he took it to the Foundation for His Ministry orphanage across town, to American he knows there named Robert. The wallet and its contents were intact and Robert gave the finder 120 pesos from that wallet for his integrity and trouble. Robert no doubt asked around among the FFHM staff and guests, and then he called Neri Maya at WH to ask if someone named Nick was missing a wallet. Praise the Lord! What a miracle! The added interest in this story is that a couple of years ago, Nicks brother also visited Vicente Guerrero and stayed at Welcome Home. During the course of his visit, he used the ATM at HSBC bank and inadvertently left his debit card in the machine. Two days later, again through our network of friends in town, the debit card was returned to him because an honest person retrieved it and made it known. Yes, this Mexico place is just teeming with criminals!! Dont believe it. There are wonderful people in Mexico who God uses to perform little miracles like these!
