Mayo Civil Defence Mass of Remembrance, Certificate Presentations & Volunteer Promotions On Wednesday 19th Nov 2014 in our Castlebar Area Base a mass was held in memory of all deceased members of our organisation & deceased members of our Volunteers families. The mass was celebrated by Rev Fr Sean Flynn. The event was attended by The Cathaoirleach of Mayo Co Co Cllr Damian Ryan, Mr J Loftus Director of Service, Ms Rose Doherty CDO and a large number of Civil Defence Volunteers. Following mass, presentation of certificates achieved by members in the following areas was carried out: Cardiac First Responder - Community, Advanced & Instructor Occupational First Aid Emergency First Responder Manual Handling Critical Incident Stress Management The following promotions were then awarded by Civil Defence Officer Ms Rose Doherty Leader: John Conlon Brian Gibbons Gerard Walsh Darren Forde Third Officer: Derek Culkin John Flannery Second Officer: Joanne Cotter First Officer: Michael Jordan Commander: Michael Conlon Those in attendance enjoyed some light refreshments following the formal events.
