Mayor Alan’s ‘leadership style’ allows own men to work to the max By: Gerry T. Pagharion Mayor Angel Alan B. Celino’s style of leadership is something that allows people working under him to maximize their own talents and potentials as well as implement great ideas for the good of the City. The mayor, for one, does not impose his ideas. He would just tell department heads or whoever is in charge of certain projects to do his best. The mayor gives his own men enough leeway or space to think and implement their own plans but never does he intervene unless he is asked to do so. The result is that those in charge of projects are inspired to work harder and are bound to produce good results. This would, perhaps, explain why Roxas City under Mayor Alan Celino has become the most awarded LGU in Capiz, if not in the region. The latest feat of the City was its elevation to the Hall of Fame in the Red Orchid Awards of the Department of Health. The City has won the award for three consecutive years (2011, 2012 and 2013), thus, qualifying it to the Hall of Fame. The mayor, along with City Health Officer Amelita Robles, received the award in ceremonies July 2 at the Philippine International Convention Center. Last year, the Department of the Interior and Local Government bestowed to the City the Seal of Good Housekeeping in recognition of its good and transparent governance. The City was also adjudged as having the Best Public Employment Service Office (PESOI) in the region for 2011 and the Best Police Station in Western Visayas. Just recently, the Roxas City government was rated excellent by the civil service commission in rendering “front line” services and in combating red tape. For this feat, the mayor congratulated the City Hall personnel for doing their job well.
