Mayor DiBlasio: A Profile In Callousness Posted On Dec 23 2014 By : Tony Melé We have all heard the argument that freedom of speech does not include screaming “Fire in a crowded theater”, where there is no fire. The perpetrator would be culpable for any injuries sustained as a result of a panic driven stampede. We have all heard it said that the Right to Assembly is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. That referred to peaceful assembly because an assembly can turn into a mindless mob, where rioting, looting and frenzy, end in harm to persons and properties. Those who incite the riot are not protected by the Bill of Rights, but are held to account for the crimes they instigated. That very same standard applies to our elected officials, public figures, and those whose craft is manipulation of propaganda through mass media outlets, when by their own conduct, be it intended or not; result in harm to people or private property. We have two such clear examples where the public discourse was ramped up and fuel added to the fire of raw passions that spun out of control to the point of destroying a community in Ferguson, Missouri and the assassination of two New York Police Officers. In New York City, in demonstrations orchestrated by Al Sharpton, with the nod of approval by New York Mayor DiBlasio; the chant: “What do we want? .. Dead Cops!.. When do we want it?… Now!”; precipitated the murder of Officers Ramos and Liu.
