“McCutcheon: Another Blow to Democracy” -- NYTimes Editorial Blog Headline, 4/2/2014 American elections should not be for sale. Montanans have been fighting outside money in elections for over a century, and it’s up to us to keep that tradition alive. Just last week, the Supreme Court made a decision on the McCutcheon case -- allowing even more big money into our democracy. In this new era of corporations as people and billionaire barons like the Koch brothers trying to buy elections, this decision is a dangerous set-back. Transparency and accountability in our elections are disappearing fast. I will continue to work for a solution to reverse the effects of Citizens United and McCutcheon. Congress can’t overturn Supreme Court decisions. But it can take immediate steps to stem the tide of special interest spending in our democratic process. Tell Washington to take immediate steps to restore accountability and transparency to our campaign finance system. Sign the petition today. Citizens United said that corporations were people -- and removed common-sense safeguards against unlimited spending in elections. Now, McCutcheon will allow people like the Kochs to inject money into as many elections they choose - giving the 1% a more powerful voice than ever before. Tell Washington: It’s time for real campaign finance reform. Add your voice to mine. Thank you. Jon Paid for by Montanans for Tester
