#Meanwhile in Inbox My name is Abdul Rab Nishtar many of u guys know me from comments on acca reloaded for those who dont here is a brief intro i am an ACCA and CMA(usa) affiliate with Obu. I have around 11 months of exp (in multinational bank + firm) i planned to visit UAE in Nov - Dec n try my luck, did all the required homework etc i was also constantly in touch with a friend who was working there from last 1 year, he applied for me on my behalf by submitting my CV and giving his contact number at various companies including his company where he is currently working now (as soon as new vacancies arrive) he assured me if a call doesnt come he will try best to use his senior managers help. He insisted me to visit early to get to this interview. I followed n visited in August instead of Nov after going i also applied at various other places i even got interview call from BDO UAE [Audit firm ranked 5th globally] after interview got no reply from them during my stay i did get around 5 interview calls got them late but got them I was rejected from one place. Second place was offering an accounts and finance type of job as that was not my field i am into internal audit and management consultancy field and that accounts job was also paying less. The interview from my friends company went good it was on merit no reference but no response from them either, i also got a call from a local company interview went good and 2 days later i got a call for a offer i accepted a very reasonable pay not much high and not much low just enough for me to survive easily but still lot better pay than what Pakistani market is offering at this stage its a 1 year contract (renewable). Company is also offering its own residence but they will charge me a nominal amount for it. I cant leave before one year if i do i will have to pay AED 15000 penalty for breaching contract i can earn and save this amount within few months) failure to pay will result in a ban on me for entering in UAE for 3 years or more. I also approached agencies which submit u r cvs on u r behalf and fix interviews for u in a fee i did get calls but i didnt knew which calls were thru their efforts as i applied everywhere online and thru agency. Many companies dont allow u to enter offices if u dont work there best way to apply is online and thru agencies. I didnt get any of my docs attested nor did my employer demanded attested docs. Its was a gamble i took not getting docs attested (following footsteps of friend who did same and got job year ago) hopefully it went good. I was of the view to get them attested from British council UAE if employers demanded it. Now i am waiting for my work visa to be stamped on my passport so i can start work, Company HR guy (an Indian) has assured me NO OVERTIME, NO CA/ACCA discrimination (like they do it in Audit firms in Pak and India). Company has also ensured increase in pay after 3 months based on performance they have agreed to sign all 2 different experience documents of ACCA and CMA. This journey was not easy i did face lots of issues here in Pak as well as Dubai due to going early out of plan as i had to rush left many thing unprepared. I was on my own their. Then the next issue was of my work experience, there are lot of jobs in Dubai, specially in the field of ERP i regret not getting ERP exp from Pak as there is pool of well paying erp jobs on linkedin for those who have 1 year or more exp. I myself will start ERP courses now and switch nxt year to its jobs. 100s of basic jobs like audit, finance etc (perfect for us) are advertised weekly on bayt, Dubizzle, monster uae, LinkedIn etc apply there. Expo 2020 gave an extra boost to jobs market but many jobs demand experience and at times they just consider experience not education like a bcom or CA inter with 3 years exp will have a better chance than a fresh acca affiliate with no exp. Majority of Companies here (except Big companies) dont know the difference between CA/ACCA/CIMA etc they just say we need such sort of person and many jobs dont even mention the required qualification just demand specific sort of person of certain experience apply there. The interview where i was rejected above rejected me on the basis of my work experience as it was internship exp in 2 different fields/companies and was not consistent. Its all Luck i came to know from my friend in UAE that many fresh with no exp got jobs and many including some with even 2-3 years of Big 4 Pakistan experience came to UAE and went back with no jobs. Get ready and then try u r luck as its different for everyone. I am lucky i got this chance. Local experience is preferred more then other exp. Grab any opportunity u get big or small work there for atleast 1-2 years get local exp! get settled! then switch company, get certified asap while working. Lots of jobs for certified people (certified means members who have membership certificate of a body) than compared to unqualified, local exp is very helpful when changing jobs. My advise to all is go Dubai try u r luck use friends/relative help if possible in small petty types of works. If u dont have anyone living there no problem go on u r own and try u r luck its only makes a small difference if u dont have some1 u know living there. Experience will not grantee u job it will only increase chances, work hard and then all is luck. Try to get ERP experience from PAK if possible people with 1 year exp in ERP can easily earn upto AED 9K + . Prepare u r self in best regard keep praying and then go its all luck. I thank all friends those people on accarelaoded as i got majority of info from here and its admin who provided such a good platform where we can come together help each other. Also read the guide how to get job in Dubai a very famous viral guide. Another advice is get u r CV done by a professional there are over 1000s of free CVs making sites as per different structures they can only provide limited info, a format and not support or adaption as per local market or u r own needs, There are many custom CV writing services here in Pak and UAE in UAE they charge much. Get u r customized cv made as per u r own needs. I availed services of Sir Ashraf Chaudhrys Guerrilla CV (google it) Pakistan number 1 sales trainer (very affordable rates) which proved quite help full (as i did get many calls based on my CV). If u have any more question plz inbox me i will be glad to reply all i have lots of unanswered msgs i use local internet on mobile on limited basis. i have to go to net cafe to use proper internet so be patient for reply. Peace out.
