Medcial Update on Erika: Well, this morning was not a very good morning, for her. She was not having very good relationship with her assigned nurses, as they were not testing Erikas patiences and were not listening to what Erika was trying to tell them. So, I had to intervene and go to the hospital director of nursing and let them know that their nurses need to brush up on their patient care, and bedside manners, which they were lacking and where not very professional. And, that they must have left their brains and common sense at home, and their heads were buried in the sand. It was not long, afterwards, that the floor manager came in, and I told him, that this was not our first rodeo and that we know what has to be and the care that is needed, etc. and that his nurses lack that proficiency in patient care, especially orthopedic care. I lite into him, and he almost dropped to the floor. And was very apologetic and advised that he would consider my concerns, in his next staff training meeting, and roll play training. And, when he found out that I was a combat medic and had nursing experience, he was very polite and listened. I sure got his attention. Well, Back to Erika. Well, after her rest inbetween patoral visits, from both priest, and the Sisters, she had her first physical therapy session. Got up and out of bed, standing next to the bed, and took several baby steps around the bed, and then back to bed. And, has been resting very comfortable since. She has been disconnected from all life lines, and is only attached to the CPM (the machine that moves the knee flexing the knee bending at the knee up and down. She has that on about 2-3 hours at a time. Physical therapy will be back later on in afternoon. Letting Erika rest as much as she can. Perhaps, all the anesthestic will be worn off by tomorrow and she will be more active and alert. Other than that all is well. Dont Tread on Me! Oh, are we having fun yet?! And, the worse part, we are going to miss the Key West, Running of the Bulls! Its Ernest Hemingway Days in Key West! All you KW Peeps, Enjoy!
