Medford area......close but no cigar! The storms are winding down right now. They barely made it into Northeastern Jackson County around Prospect and Union Creek. The likely made it over the Camp Creek Complex. Way down in Southeastern Jackson County, the Oregon Gulch Fire did get thunderstorm activity. Lightning and some rain was reported. Not hearing that they got heavy rain there at all. Heavy rain did appear to hit all the fires in Modoc and Siskiyou Counties. Rain also looks like it got in over the Eiler and Bald fires as well. This is from the National Weather Service here in Medford talking about the event. RICH MOISTURE LADEN AIR MASS CROSSED OVER MOST AREAS EAST OF THE CASCADES. FAIRLY SIGNIFICANT CONVECTION ON THE LEADING EDGE OF THE MOISTURE. RADAR INDICATES SOME RAINFALL TOTALS OF OVER 1.50 INCHES. IF, OR WHEN, THIS HEAVY RAIN CROSSES A RECENT BURN AREA LOCAL FLASH FLOODING MAY RESULT. SHORT RANGE MODELS KEEP THE MOISTURE MAINLY EAST OF THE CASCADES IN OREGON AND CENTRAL SISKIYOU COUNTY IN CALIFORNIA.
