Media Practice Internship Posting 2 Nearly another internship - TopicsExpress

Media Practice Internship Posting 2 Nearly another internship week has past. During these few days, I had the chance to undertake more tasks and had the opportunity to know and learn more about this industry of radio and broadcasting. I have started to participate in various radio programs, including news broadcasting as well as talk show. Before undertaking the actual task of broadcasting news on radio, the chief executive producer and head of the station Ms. Janey Tham asked me to watch how the professions broadcast news. It is my very first time to sit in the booth for live broadcasting. Though I was just there to watch, I felt very excited. The reporter is professional media personnel who came from Southern part of China and now is working on his journalist doctor degree program focusing on sports journalism in China. The program that he was broadcasting is called News bulletin which provides the latest major local news and international news particularly from mainland China, Hong Kong and Tai Wan. There are few things that I learnt from watching him broadcasting news. First of all, the most important thing is to keep your voice loud while at the same time you need to pronounce clearly each word. Secondly, it is necessary to sit straight and keep a certain distance between your eyes and the paper, meaning that while broadcasting news, it is better not to hold up the paper close to your eyes. This is because if there is certain distance, you will be able to have a bigger sight, which allows you to see clearly the whole line. Thus while you are reading the first part of the sentence, your eyes have already read the rest of the sentence and know what to say next. In such way, the reporter is more likely to make less mistakes and broadcast the news fluently. Broadcasting news is a very challenging task, and I hope I can have more opportunities to practice tasks like this.
