Media, Press, News, what else? I watched “State of Play” - TopicsExpress

Media, Press, News, what else? I watched “State of Play” and then more recently “All the President’s Men,” both of them press-related. State was about a politician who might not have told the truth being uncovered by the journalist who probably might not have told the truth either. President was basically the story about the Watergate scandal. State of Play used cinematic device in story-telling, albeit not very effectively, in toying with the audience about how the protagonist might have been controlled by three women involved with him. It was vaguely done in the end, but there you go. Fact and truth, what’s more real? All the President’s Men is by no means a good movie. While watching, I was wondering about how much I could believe it. Upon reading Dr.Goranson’s review, it was confirmed how the presidency of the USA had been, almost forever, tarnished by the version of the incident via the media. Two wholesome journalists bringing down the president is a bit much. Let me tell you all folks, whenever you watch a movie, you have to know that you are watching a movie, not the truth. Funny how, I just made a crude remark about how news was consumed in this country. You look around and all the news presented has always been about rape, suicide, violence, accidents, and worst of its kind superstars gossips. I do not need to say that they write what people wanna read, but there’s no getting away from that fact, is it?
