Media Release Agmark Gurias 8:00am 21 August , 2014 The PNG NRL board voted 7-6 to hold the Grand Final at Kokopo. The Wigmen refuse to play in Kokopo claiming its not neutral. They have NO specific issues they have identified. It is safer than Lae. All the refs want to come to Kokopo. All there is at Kalabond is a vocal crowd of supporters. It is the best field in PNG and parts of Queensland. It is the only venue that the Q Cup refs are allowed to work...not Lae nor anywhere else . There is nothing physical that is an issue at Kalabond There is nothing to fear except the fear of losing.....Superstitions? ? ? They want Lae which has major issues of security, field quality and poor management. Over the past weeks there 3 Hotels in Lae have had problems with uncontrolled supporters of Wigmen. There was intimidation of officials and Players during last Sundays Tigers - Wigmen game in Lae. There is still a slim hope that Wigmen will travel to Kokopo on Saturday. Lets all continue to hope they will be true sportsmen. STILL HOPING....but the deadline is midday today to convince them. It is disappointing that such a new team with this opportunity have behaved this way. Wigmen have beaten the Vipers and Tigers.Both these teams beat the Gurias It took the Gurias 8 years to get into a Grand Final and 10 years to win a Grand Final.
