Media Release Scott Lutz October 12, 2014 On October 12, 2014 approximately 3:01pm Officers of the Hutchinson Police Department received information that Scott Lutz was hiding in an attic of a residence located at 415 East Ave. B. Lutz was wanted for several felony warrants and had eluded law enforcement officers more than once over the last few days in Hutchinson and surrounding jurisdictions. Lutz is also under investigation regarding auto theft. Officers responded to 415 East Ave. B and initially established verbal contact with Lutz in the attic of the residence. Lutz refused to comply with the officers and soon set a small fire in the attic. With the assistance of the Hutchinson Fire Department and the Reno County Sheriffs Department Officers gained access to the attic and placed Lutz into custody without incident. Lutz was transported to the Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for minor cuts and scrapes. Pending release from the Hospital, Lutz will be placed in the Reno County Detention Center on several warrants along with 5 counts of Aggravated Arson and Felony Interference of a Law Enforcement Officer. Other agencies that assisted our officers with this incident were the Kansas Highway Patrol, South Hutchinson Police Department, Reno County Sheriffs Department, Hutchinson Fire Department and Reno County EMS.
