Mediate Between Govt And Employees, J&K Speaker To CPI(M):SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly speaker Mubarak Gul today suggested Communist Party of India (M) member Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami to mediate between the state government and the agitating employees. Soon after the House met for the day, Mr Tarigami raised the issue of employees, who are agitating, alleging that the government backtracked after agreements with them on their demands. Mr Tarigami said a number of employees were arrested and cases were registered against them under the Essential Service Maintenance Act (ESMA) during their recent strike. “Withdraw the cases and release the employees leader so that an atmosphere is created for a dialogue. “They are our own people and government should look into their problems,” Mr Targami said. ‘The Speaker added: I suggest you to play a mediator between the government and employees to resolve the crisis.” The employees under the banner of Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) have been demanding increase in the retirement age from present 58 years to 60 years, regularisation of daily wagers, need based workers and contratuals who have completed seven years in service. However, Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather has informed the House recently that all demands of employees have been met. He said let the House decide on retirement issue.
