Meditation Get Back in the Game September 8, 2014 In baseball and football, there are always some players who are seated on the sidelines because of an injury or some other mishap that has occurred. Sometimes, when the camera spans across the sideline, you see some of the players sitting with sad faces because they are not in the game. They can only watch. There are times, in our lives, when we are sitting on the sideline. A bad situation, a health crisis, disappointment, hurt or other frustration has forced us to retreat from the mainline of living because we no longer feel that we want to be involved. We don’t want to think about anything positive or interact with people who may not understand what we are going through. We begin to spend too much time alone; we don’t answer phone calls or accept invitations to events. After a while, depression begins to take control. Everyone is entitled to have a pity party. It’s natural to feel that you need some time to reflect and heal from the hurts and disappointments, but you have to realize that you can’t stay on the sideline of life indefinitely. Whether you want to participate or not, life is still moving. People are changing and things are happening with or without you. You have to decide to get up and get back in the game. You have to come up with a new plan of action. Ask God to renew your strength and give you the courage to get up and get going. Ask God to direct your paths. You may not think so at the time, but when you begin to move forward, God will begin to make things happen to validate your positive actions. Have faith and trust God to help you get back in the game. Find your strength in the scriptures: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) “We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We do not know what to do, but we do not give up the hope of living.” (2 Corinthians 4:8 NCV) “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13) Peace and Hope, Louise Manigault.
