Meditation Have You Been Affected by Misplaced Trust? January 22, 2015 Even under the best of circumstances, life can be challenging. When you are troubled, you seek relief and comfort, but often, the choices you make during those times are not the best for you. When you are upset about a situation, you confide in a person whom you consider to be your closest friend, but as soon as you leave their space, they get on the phone and spread the word about what is going on in your life. You talk to someone about your worries, but that person is not compassionate or understanding. You put your total trust in a relationship, but then, when you least expect it, your companion betrays you. You think that people on the job are supportive of you because you always go out of your way to help them, but they are scheming to discredit you to the bosses because they are jealous and dont want to see you move ahead of them. You trust someone to take care of an important matter for you, but as soon as you leave their presence, they forget. You seek love and support from family and friends, but often they are the ones who try to condemn and tear you down. When you are trying to accomplish something positive, people try to discourage you and block your progress. When you are seeking advice, people lead you in the wrong direction. We have all encountered situations of misplaced trust, but when you trust in God, you will not be disappointed. When you need help, you can trust God to provide: “I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19b) When you don’t think you can take another step, God will: “Direct my steps according to your will.” (Psalm 119:133a) When you don’t know what to do or which way to turn, God says, “Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give your rest.” (Matthew 11:28) When you need someone to talk to, God listens: “O Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.” (Psalm 130:2) When everyone is against you, God is for you: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31) “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him.” (Romans 15:13) Blessings, Louise Manigault.
