Meditation Monday is here again! and today we are meditating on Showing Compassion The Bible in John 15:9-11 says that As the Father loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my Love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Fathers commandments and abide in his love . These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full. People often think of love only in terms of relationships or marriage but we forget that we are commanded to love everyone, even as the Father loved Jesus and as Jesus loved the Church (us). How far are we willing to go for strangers, people in need. Jesus was truly compassionate, and that is why he is the greatest example of love we have today. Meditate on how you can show love to people. Everyday we are on this earth, we come across new faces, people who are going through things we know nothing about, think of how you can be an example in their lives. God is Love, if you can show love and compassion, you may be the only example of God they experience in their lifetime. It is not always about the big things, sometimes it is in the little things. Smile, Laugh, hug someone, offer someone some help today at the supermarket and as you do these things, you will not just bring joy to the other person, you will bring much joy to yourself as it says in verse 11, your joy will be full. I have added this video as an example of a man, (his religion is not mentioned) who was clearly compassionate and showed love for the people around him. I watched this video and it truly showed me an example of what it means to be compassionate in this day and age so I thought I should share it. When we see others, do we dismiss them in our hearts as being lower than us and not worthy of our time, or are we filled with compassion, wanting to rescue them from their misery? I pray as we meditate on Showing Love today and we take action in our lives, the Joy of the Lord will multiply in our hearts and each small act of compassion will create ripples and bring the change that we want to see in the world and in our lives.
