Meet Charlie, he is a puppy, approximately 5 months old who would have died in his cage in Miami Dade Animal shelter (MDAS), had I not pulled him just in the nick of time! Charlies will to live has surpassed my expectations being that he was suffering from a tic borne infection, post surgical infection, hook-worms, sever upper respiratory infection, Demodex mange and severe emaciation. To date his post op infection has cleared fully, his tics are gone, he has gained an average of a pound per week, he is still being treated with Ivermectin for his demodex, which is not contagious and he will be on ant-biotics for two more weeks as prevention for the tic borne exposure He is still experiencing the world, cars people, other dogs, no cats yet! We went to the park for the first day today and he found a local rescue buddy named Rosco and they played forever......tug o war!!!!In two weeks he will be scheduled to have his baby teeth pulled as they did not all come out on their own. Through all of this, he has been a real trooper. He is beyond the sweetest little guy you have ever met, super playful, energetic, yet not hyper, friendly, nearly fully potty trained and loves his daily walks. He is a puppy and must be exercised NOT cooped up or kenneled all day!!! Charlie is NOT disposable, he has cost a lot of money to make him whole again and only responsible people who will take proper care of him will be considered as adoptive owners. Charlie would make a great companion for another playful friendly pup.
