Meet Fergi! She is an 11 year old Cocker Spaniel/Boxer mix and weighs about 48 pounds. This lovely mature lady was originally adopted from us in 2004. Right before Thanksgiving this old gal was found wandering an apartment complex. A concerned citizen took her in for a few days and posted signs trying to find her owner. Sadly, no one called to claim her. The man who found her couldnt keep her, so he was forced to take her to an animal control facility where he hoped she would find a forever home. Thankfully, the staff at the shelter scanned her and found her micro-chip that had been placed by S.A.F.E. House 10 years ago. Her adoptive family couldnt be located, so Fergi found herself once again in need of a loving, permanent home through no fault of her own. A S.A.F.E. House volunteer sprung Fergi from animal control, where no dog belongs, let along a dog that is 11 years old. Now, dont let her age fool you into thinking she doesnt do anything. Fergi loves to play fetch with the tennis ball and enjoys going for walks. She has some lumps and bumps that have been checked out by a veterinarian and they are called lipomas which are fatty tumors. They do no harm, do not hurt, and will only return if you attempt to remove them. She will overlook some of your cosmetic flaws and age if you are willing to overlook hers. She is currently in a S.A.F.E. House foster home, but we think she would be much happier in a home with fewer dogs (1-2 dogs would be okay). She is completely house-trained and has lovely manners, as well. We are looking for a forever foster for Fergi, where she might live out the rest of her life. All medical care, heart worm and flea preventive will be provided by S.A.F.E. House for the rest of her life. We would just like Fergi to have a comfortable home for however many years she may have left.
