Meet Skippy! This sweet, 13 year old girl, was dumped by her family at the Lancaster Shelter. She has terminal cancer and instead of letting live out her last days in the comfort of home they took her to a high kill shelter. This is something we will never understand. With the help of the Village, a committed hospice foster and the L&F family backing her Skippy was pulled yesterday and is enjoying the comforts of a soft bed and lots of love. Skippy went to our vet today and her days are very limited. We didnt expect she would have much time, but she is now on the pain meds she needs and is enjoying home cooked chicken and rice for her meals. She is bathed, comfortable and loves. Fostering a senior or a hospice dog is one of the most rewarding things you can do, both for the dog (or any companion animal) and yourself. We established the Duchess Fund to help care for terminally ill dogs who may only have hours, days or weeks to live so they can remain comfortable and have the love and dignity in the end they all deserve. Welcome to the L&F Family Skippy! You are home!
