Meet The Man Who Ate an Airplane and Everything Else Tuesday 18 - TopicsExpress

Meet The Man Who Ate an Airplane and Everything Else Tuesday 18 March, 2014 Michel Lotito also known as Monsieur Mangetout which translated equates to Mr eat all is one man best known for his appetite, and by appetite, I mean eating an entire Cessna 150 airplane. That was not the only thing he is famed for, Michel also ate 15 shopping carts, seven television sets, six chandeliers, two beds, a coffin and a small section of the Eiffel Tower... definitely thats some mean appetite. Unfortunately, (rather fortunately in this case) the Frenchman entertainer as he often referred to himself, had what doctors deemed a very thick lining in his stomach and intestines. This made it possible for sharp metal objects to pass through his system without doing any structural damage. Just how did he manage to do so is the question, well, he would break objects into small pieces and consume them with lots of water. He would also drink plenteous amounts of mineral oil to help guide the metal bits and pieces down through his intestines. As for eating the plane, it took him two years to fully eat it, from the year 1978 to 1980. Funny enough, Lotito had trouble eating and digesting bananas and hard-boiled eggs which made him sick. His problem started early as a teenager when he was 16 years of age where suffered from Pica; a medical condition that causes cravings to eat such things as dirt, glass and, apparently, anything metal, he used this to his advantage and performed publicly from 1966. Sadly, Lotito died of natural causes on June 25, 2007, ten days after his 57th birthday. It is estimated that between 1959 and 1997, Lotito had eaten nearly nine tons of metal. Now thats an appetite.
