Meet Tiffany Noles Bailey! She is one of our featured artists in this exhibition! This is her Artist Statement: “Art is a step from what is obvious and well-known toward what is arcane and concealed.” Kahlil Gibran Nothing is ever as it seems. Initial perceptions generally render incorrect conclusions. A quick glance on the surface reveals what we want it to, but what if we were to delve deeper? Look harder? Peel away the layers to reveal the rawness and frailty which exists so deep within us. The flaws, imperfections, fears, hopes and dreams we bury deep are there, waiting to flee us at a moment’s notice. They escape here and there, seeping into the world around us, connecting us all by wispy threads of likeness. This – the emotions of humanity, the rawness – is what drives me as a photographer. To see this, feel it, analyze it, interpret it, and capture it.
