Meet energetic three legged Flossie the 12 month old Bichon Frise - TopicsExpress

Meet energetic three legged Flossie the 12 month old Bichon Frise x Jack Russell Terrier! She really is a little wonder dog. Flossie came to us on New Year’s Eve after being found as a stray, at that time Flossie had an old injury to her leg from being hit by a car. Flossie’s leg had been broken and set itself incorrectly, causing her wrist and toes to curl under. We investigated all avenues to keep the leg but in the end had no option then but to amputate her leg. Flossie has adapted marvellously to being on 3 legs from day 1, she does all the things she would normally do as a young and energetic dog. She walks well on a long lead. Once she gets going she really picks up speed and has loads of energy. She would even be happy to do agility which isn’t uncommon for 3 legged dogs. Flossie is a sweet and loving little girl who loves to sit and cuddle and have her belly rubbed, if you stop she will tap or nudge you to carry on. She loves to jump up on your lap for a cuddle. Flossie gets along with the other dogs in her foster home well, although as a part terrier can be a bit full on with them at times. She does still have some aggression towards other dogs when around food, she is currently fed separately from the other dogs. She is not suitable to be rehomed with cats. She can be a bit of a bossy boots and her bounciness is a bit too much for the other dogs sometimes. For this reason we would like to see her rehomed either as the only dog or with an older calm dog who will ignore her when she gets a bit too much. Flossie has been good with the older 8+ grandchildren in her foster home. She can be possessive with her toys so we feel she will need to be homed with older dog savvy children who know not to try to take a toys from her Flossie loves her toys and her Kong stuffed with treats. She is happy being left for 3-4 hours. She sleeps in her crate overnight downstairs with or without the company of the other dogs. Flossie is looking for a fairly active home, with either no children or older dog savvy children. Although she has only 3 legs she is very energetic and would be too bouncy for an elderly person. Flossie is spayed, vaccinated and up to date with her flea and worming treatment. Potential adopters will be expected to visit Flossie in her foster home in RCT, South Wales. foa-rct.proboards/thread/15460/flossie-tripawd-bichon-jrt-mnths
