Meet marathon runner and one of our very own amazing Key Leaders, Sheelah Scott. She will be taking on the 26.2 miles this coming Monday. Here is what Shee had to say about what running the Boston Marathon means to her: When I was 12 my father took me on my first long run, all of 5 miles, around Straits Pond in Cohasset where I grew up. Within the first mile when I experienced runners high, I knew I was a goner. I threw myself into the sport and made it a lifestyle. Running became my freedom, and my main focus. As the fifth mile approached, I felt those oh-so-wonderful runners pains and started to doubt myself. My father said to me, what doesnt kill you, will make you stronger. When given the opportunity to run the 117th Boston Marathon to support ALS through The Angel Fund, the long run became bigger than me. An overwhelming sense of pride came from running for those who couldnt, and I was all in. On 4-15-13, I didnt get to finish my run. I was approaching mile 25 when I got a phone call from my fiance, begging me to stop running and to turn around. He and the rest of our friends and family where anxiously waiting at the finish line for me to finish when chaos broke loose. I relentlessly made my way into the Back Bay where we all miraculously found each other, shaken, disoriented but safe. I will finish the 2014 Boston Marathon. I will be standing taller, I will be running stronger, and I will run for those who cant. What doesnt kill me, will make me stronger. - Sheelah Scott
